World standard

A television standard accepted in all parts of the world.

CCIR recommendation 601 is currently the closest there is to a world standard.

It is accepted throughout the world, but can be used with either 525- scanning line or 625-scanning line picture. HDTV 1125/60 Group is attempting to promote its system as a world HDEP standard, but Zenith suggests the same for 3XNTSC, and there are other candidates.
