Human genome
The human genome consists of 23 chromosome and the small mitochondrial DNA. 22 of the 23 chromosomes are autosomal chromosome pairs and the last one being a gender-determining pair. In total, the human genome contains the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA and approximately 20,000-25,000 genes. By understanding human genome, scientists are able to develop new medical applications that can significantly advance the state of health care.

Human genome
Chordee
Medical; Human genome
Painful erection of the penis often with a downward curvature that may be present in a congenital condition (as hypospadias) or accompany gonorrhea.
Chiasma
Medical; Human genome
A connexion formed between chromatids, visible during meiosis, thought to be the point of the interchange involved in crossing-over.
Chemotherapy
Medical; Human genome
1) Treatment with anticancer drugs. 2) The use of chemical agents in the treatment or control of disease or mental disorder.
Choroid plexus
Medical; Human genome
1) A villous structure of tangled masses of blood vessels contained within the third, lateral, and fourth ventricles of the BRAIN. It regulates part of the production and composition of ...
Central dogma
Medical; Human genome
A theory in genetics and molecular biology subject to several exceptions that genetic information is coded in self-replicating DNA and undergoes unidirectional transfer to messenger RNAs in ...
Colony-stimulating factor
Medical; Human genome
1) Substances that stimulate the production of blood cells. Treatment with colony-stimulating factors (CSF) can help the blood-forming tissue recover from the effects of chemotherapy and radiation ...
Convergence
Medical; Human genome
1) An embryonic movement that involves streaming of material from the dorsal and lateral surfaces of the gastrula toward the blastopore and concurrent shifting of lateral materials toward the ...
