Presapiens Hypothesis

The theory, mainly applied to Europe, that proposes two separate human lineages can be found in the Middle Pleistocene. One lineage (presapiens) evolved directly into modern H. sapiens populations and closely resembles these modern forms at an early date. The second lineage (preneanderthals) evolved into the European Neanderthal populations of the earlier Wurm glaciation and subsequently became extinct.
