Drop third strike

A call in baseball that occurs when a catcher fails to cleanly catch the third strike ball. If the ball touches the ground before it is caught, or if the catcher grasps the ball and drops it, it is considered a dropped ball. If there is no runner on first base or if there are two outs in the inning, the batter is not called out and has the opportunity to run to first base.
