Evacuated tube transport (ETT)
A super fast, non-polluting and safe transport system that is capable of travelling up to 4,000 miles per hour. At this speed, a trip from New York City of the U.S. to Beijing China would take just two hours and a trip encircling the world would only consume six hours.
Also called space travel on earth, the ETT runs on electricity and magnetic levitation to send car-sized capsules through giant long vacuum tubes at super fast speeds, similar to the one experienced by astronauts in space flight. For people who are claustrophobic as ETT involves travelling in a capsule, the reclined seating and virtual window displays allow the simulation of whatever environment the rider prefers in addition to watching TV, movies or playing video games.
Invented by engineer Daryl Oster, who also founded the open consortium, et3.com, the evacuated tube transport technology received a U.S. patent in 1999. According to Oster, the ETT is a low cost transportation since it requires only 1/10th the cost of High Speed Rail, or 1/4th the cost of a freeway, to build a 350 miles per hour ETT infrastructure, according to the inventor of ETT.
