Magneto safety cheque
A cheque made by the pilot of an aircraft to determine that the ignition switch is operating properly. The engine is idled, and the ignition switch is momentarily placed in the OFF position. The engine should stop firing, but the switch is returned to the BOTH position before the engine stops turning. This safety cheque assures that both magnetos are grounded when the switch is in the OFF position.
